Tema, Feb 7, GNA – Mrs Joan Ayeh-Owusu, Director of Caring Arms Childminding Centre, a facility for infants in Tema, has stressed the need for day care centres to use the “Parents’ Group” concept to provide information on parenting and child development.
Speaking at the first passing out of the Centre, Mrs Ayeh-Owusu, said this could be done through seminars, lectures and counselling sessions.
A total of 20 infants made up of 14 males and six females, the youngest being three-year old Jephthah Kwami Yayera Hamenoo were presented with certificates.
The Director pledged the determination of the management to “live up to our original dream of providing the best childcare in the pre-school division in this city and elsewhere” and to be of service to the community.
The centre would affiliate with agencies and organisations providing childcare training and other related disciplines to receive up to date professional information, she said.
Mrs Ayeh-Owusu appealed to companies, organisations as well as philanthropists to assist the Centre to educate parents in the municipality on childcare through lectures and other programmes. Mr Gideon Duncan Idun of the Angels Specialist International School also in Tema, urged parents and guardians to instil the fear of God in their children.
