Cape Coast, June 30, GNA – The Central Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), on Wednesday held the 28th remembrance service for the three High Court judges murdered 28 years ago. They were Mr. Frederick Poku Sarkodie, Mr. Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong and Mrs. Cecelia Afran Koranteng-Addow.

Delivering a sermon in commemoration of the Day, the Parish Priest of St. John Baptist Church, Pedu, Reverend Father Dr. George Bonnah said that the celebration of the Martyrs Day was not to invigorate the spirit of hatred towards those responsible for the act but rather to remember the departed souls. He described the murdered judges as gallant Ghanaians, who worked tirelessly without fear or favour to dispense justice. Rev. Dr. Bonnah called on the Judicial Service to continue to promote justice to ensure peace.

He urged Ghanaians to desist from taking vengeance or habour grudge against their neighbours but rather love them as themselves. Rev. Dr. Bonnah said that the national anthem and the coat of arms which are two important elements of Ghana’s national identity should serve as a guide for all Ghanaians to promote freedom.
