Central Region was the best during the revision exercise – EC official

Cape Coast, July 6, GNA – The Central Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, (EC), Mr. Samuel Tettey, has commended the region for their comportment and cooperation during last month’s revision exercise. A total of 124,930 people were registered during the exercise with 62,999 males and 61,931 females. The 10-day exercise also replaced a total of 37,766 lost identification cards. Speaking with the Ghana News Agency, on Monday, Mr. Tettey said he believed that the region was the best in the country because it had an incident free exercise.

He said this year’s figure is 12% less than that of the last exercise but described the challenges during the exercise as “petty,” mentioning the frequent interruption in its power station as on of them. Mr. Tettey said officials had to recharge cameras and other equipment meant for the exercise in the homes of people at a fee because it had to be done several hours before they could continue their operations. He expressed the hope that the power station that can last for three days to one week would be made available during the next exercise to facilitate the work of the EC.
