Central Region to hold Farmers Day

Saltpond, Nov. 6, GNA – The Central Regional Farmers Day will be held at Saltpond on the December 12.

To enable all the 12 districts in the region to participate fully in the celebration of the National Farmers Day, which will be held at Cape Coast on the December 5, the Regional celebration at Saltpond has been rescheduled for December 12. Farmers Day is celebrated nationwide on the first Friday of December.

As a measure to ensure successful celebration, the Mfantseman District Directorate of Agriculture in conjunction with the district Assembly has set up eight sub committees to plan and coordinate activities.

They are exhibits and awards committee, transport, publicity, food, entertainment and welfare, security, finance, secretariat and site and grounds committees.

Mrs. Felicia Ansah-Amprofi, the District Director of Agriculture, who inaugurated the committees urged members to render dedicated service to make the day a big success.

Mr. F.A. Okine, Chairman of the Agriculture sub-committee of the assembly assured the members of the support and cooperation of the assembly and urged them to report problems beyond their control to the district directorate of agriculture or to the assembly.
