Central Region NDC allays fears of government functionaries.

Apam (C/R), May 23, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region has assured government functionaries, especially Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives that the party would not use frivolous agitations to remove them from office.

Before a functionary can be removed from office, in-depth investigations would be conducted to establish the guilt of the one but not on mere calls for their removal.

Mr. Kow Anyanful, Regional Secretary of the party, who gave the assurance in an interview with Ghana News Agency at Apam at the weekend, urged them to go about their normal duties without fear. The Regional NDC Secretary however cautioned the functionaries not to see the assurance as a licence to become arrogant to the people they would come to in contact with.

Mr. Anyanful said the party had stated in its constitution the mode of resolving intra-party conflicts but instead of supporters using the conflict resolution mechanism, they preferred going into the streets and the media to seek redress.

He advised supporters of the party, especially the youth, to explore all avenues laid down by the party for conflict resolution before resorting to the media.

Mr. Anyanful who was a District Chief Executive in the Rawlings’ administration stated that the agitations which were growing nation-wide were not healthy for national development and the earlier they ceased, the better it would be for the nation.

He cautioned the youth of the party against being used as agent provocateur for some detractors who had promised to make the nation ungovernable.

Mr. Anyanful assured Ghanaians that the Better Ghana Agenda was on course and urged them to exercise patience and wait for better things to roll.
