Cape Coast, Oct.06, GNA – The Central Regional House of Chiefs has been able to dispose of five of its numerous chieftaincy disputes within four months.
The President of the House, Nana Kwamena Ansah IV who made disclosed this to the press on Thursday after a meeting of the House at Cape Coast said this was made possible through the establishment of a legal council in June this year. He said the House had been without a legal council for more than a decade and that some of the backlog of cases pending before the House dates back to 1993 and expressed optimism that more than 50 cases would be disposed off soon considering the speed and efficiency with which the council was working.
Nana Ansah pledged the commitment of the House to ensure the high rate of chieftaincy disputes in the region were reduced to the barest minimum adding “the chieftaincy college when established would help address some of those issues that brings about disputes.” He urged chiefs in the region to make development of their traditional areas paramount and contribute their quota towards the socio-economic development of the region.
