Central Bank Governor still at post

Accra, Jan. 20, GNA – The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Paul Acquah, is at post contrary to media speculation that he has proceeded on accumulated leave, a source at the Bank told the Ghana News Agency. “The Governor has been coming to work since the change of government and he is even at work right now,” Ms Esi Hammond, Public Affair Manager, told the GNA on Tuesday.

Speculations have been rife about whether the governor would continue to stay in office in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

One of his Deputies, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who was the running mate of Nana Akufo Addo, the unsuccessful presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December election, has written to disengage from his remaining 18-month contract with the Central Bank and also applied for his accumulated leave.
