Census implementation Committee wants prompt release of logistics

Gwollu (U/W), Sept. 1, GNA – Mr. Martin Dassah, Chairman of the Sissala West District Census Implementation Committee, has said the delay in the release of logistics and funds to districts could affect the smooth take-off of the 2010 population and housing census.

He told the GNA in an interview that since the committee was inaugurated, there had not been any funds and logistics to work with.

Mr. Dassah therefore appealed to the government and the Ghana Statistical Service to speed up the provision of logistics and training for census officials in good time to ensure the success of the exercise.

He said censuses were very crucial in planning for the development of the country and should be taken seriously.

Mr Dassah said the government and relevant institutions connected with the conduct of the census should work hard to strengthen the weaknesses.
