Accra, July 6, GNA – The Ghana Education Service (GES) on Tuesday said Invigilators, Supervisors, Schools and Centres that allowed the use of cell phones (mobile phones) at the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be sanctioned.
A release signed by the Reverend Ama Afo Baly, GES Director General to the Ghana News Agency, reminded invigilators, supervisors and students that the use of phones in examination halls was not allowed.
“Non-compliance of this directive will compel the GES to sanction the school/centre whilst West African Examination Council (WAEC) takes the appropriate measures against the culprits,” the Director General emphasised.
The GES alleged that some candidates in some examination halls have been using phones in fragrant violation of the GES and WAEC rules and regulations on the conduct of examinations.
The 2004 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations, which started throughout the country on Monday July 5, is expected to end on Wednesday, August 4. It is taking place in 522 Senior Secondary Schools. A total of 96,679 candidates made up of 54,514 boys and 42,165 girls are writing the examinations. 06 July 04
