Tema, July 27, GNA – The August Medal Open Golf Championship of the Celebrity Golf Club will be played at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday, August 1.
Mr Ato Enndman, General Manager of the Club who disclosed this to event.
He said the competition which would be played in accordance with the local rules of the Club would be sponsored by the Club. Among an array of golfers expected to participate in the competition includes Abdul-Aziz Amankwa, Joe Ampofo, Joe Ohemeng, Akwasi Opoku and Theophilus Asampong, all of the host Club. The team from the Achimota Golf Club to be led by their captain, Mike Aggrey, also includes Dan Dennis, Yaw Assah-Sam, Daniel List, Nick Smallman, Charles Tabi and Frank Asorgba. Among the prizes at stake are the ‘Longest Drive on Hole 18’ and ‘Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17’.
Mr Enndman urged the participants to be punctual for the competition which would tee-off at 0600 hours. Golfers use monthly Medal competitions to sharpen their strokes for major competitions. The next major competition is the Vodafone Invitational scheduled for the Achimota Golf Course on August 22.
