Mothers in Ghana, we the Women’s Wing of the New Patriotic Party, seize this special occasion that respects you to pay tribute to you for all the sacrifice, commitment, tolerance and love you have bestowed on children and families in this country. On this 12th day of May, dedicated to mothers, the New Patriotic Party takes this opportunity to celebrating mothers in Ghana. For all the unique love and support you offer to familes unconditionally the NPP thanks you.
The Ghanaian mother through thick and thin has nurtured families at great expense to herself. From picking sheanuts and firewood at ungodly hours, fetching water, farming, cleaning sores, selling their last cloth to feed their children and educating them to the various positions across the land, mothers have demonstrated warmth, compassion, affection and developed a strong bond that can never be compared. It is the mother who gives true meaning to values and principles and nurtures responsible citizens. She has a great impact in all lives, character and behaviour. To make you happy, she provides care and guidance in abundance. Her loyalty to her young ones is truly unquestionable.
Mother’s Day is celebrated usually on the second Sunday of May in the United States and has been emulated by countries like Ghana. However it is celebrated on the second week of lent in the United Kingdom. For celebrating mothers in Ghana please give a mother near you a huge hug and say to her ‘ayekoo’. On behalf of yourself give your mother and other mothers around you something to smile about and a beautiful moment she will cherish forever by committing to peace this election year in Ghana. When there is war or civil unrest it is the mothers and children who suffer the most, so let us all seriously protect the peace in Ghana as our collective gift of love to our mothers and mother Ghana.
There is not a day that a mother is not special to me and your families, mothers of Ghana. You are the sunshine of all the little and big families, the heartbeat of the homes that wipes away the tears of young and old alike and puts smiles across our motherland.
The Women’s Wing of the New Patriotic Party is committed to appreciating mothers and mother figures in celebrating this unique mother’s day with our pledge to actions for peace in election 2012.
