CEANA Convention 2011 launched in Toronto

The Ewe Canadian Cultural Organization of Ontario (ECCOO) held its annual Christmas Banquet at the Royal Legion Hall, 11 Irwin Rd. on December 26th 2010. In attendance as usual to entertain the crowd at the event was the Ewe Dance Ensemble.

ECCOO then took the opportunity to launch Council of Ewe Association of North America (CEANA) 2011 Convention to be held in Toronto from 1st to 5th September 2011 at Toronto Airport Marriot Hotel, 901 Dixon Road, Etobicoke, Ontario. During the launching, the President of ECCOO also the current president of CEANA, Kuesi Amegah Wovoe enumerated some of the achievements of CEANA which include a $3.5m hospital equipment to Ghana and building of a six classroom blocks in Sovie, Volta Region, and another one which is on the way at Tanyigbe, Volta Region. CEANA has awarded 79 students, in Senior Secondary School, Scholarships up to date.

The Consular-General of Ghana, Mr. Kwadwo Mawutor who was the special guest at the event appealed to Ghanaian professionals over here in Canada to go back home to help mother Ghana. He also appealed to parents to educate their children so that in future they will go back home to help.

Prince Gbeklui, the Chairman of the Convention planning committee appealed to all the Ewes in Canada to come and help the CEANA convention which is estimated at $50,000.
