CDS appeals to security Agencies at the borders to be extra vigilant

Security personnel and border officials at the country’s borders have been urged to work hard and be vigilant to protect the frontiers against the enemies of the nation as the nation gears for the 2012 election.

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Lt. General Augustine Peter Blay, made the call when he addressed security agencies and border officials at the Jewi Wharf border near Half Assini on Saturday.

The meeting that was held behind closed doors was attended by officials of the Customs Division of the Revenue Authority, Navy personnel, BNI, Immigration Officers and officials from the Port Health Authority stationed at the Jewi Wharf border.

Briefing the media after the meeting, the Jomoro District Chief Executive, Mr Sylvester Dadieh, said the CDS also appealed to the security agencies to observe the ECOWAS Protocol in ensuring free movement of goods and people.

He quoted Lt-Gen Blay as having expressed his gratitude to the security personnel in the area for their good conduct and their camaderie at the border and urged them to maintain it .**
