CDD halts preparations for D/A polls

Friday’s ruling by the Supreme Court halting the conduct of the March 3 local level elections has compelled Election observers to hold off further preparations for the polls.

Pro-Governance NGO- Center for Democratic Development (CDD)- had commenced training of Officers to be deployed on election day to monitor the conduct of next week’s election when the ruling was announced.

The Supreme Court yesterday declared the upcoming elections void, following a suit by a Fisherman who petitioned the Court challenging his disqualification.

The ruling by the country’s highest court, ordered the Electoral Commission to reopen nominations.

The ruling has thrown all preparations towards the polls out of gear.

Programs Coordinator of the Center for Democratic Development, Paul Aborampah told Starr News the cost of the ruling will be monumental.
