Causes of political intolerance in Africa identified

Sekondi, August 25 GNA – The use of drug addicts and hooligans in political campaigns as well as lack of sincerity by political leaders have been the major cause of political intolerance in many African Countries Mr. Albert Amedzro, Principal of the Takoradi Workers College has said.

He was speaking at a one day forum organised by the National Commission of Civic Education (NCCE) at Sekondi on Wednesday under the theme, “Religious and Political Tolerance: The Quest for Peaceful Co-existence and Stable Civic Society”.

Mr. Amedzro, who spoke on “Political Tolerance: The Role of Political Parties in its Sustenance in the next Millennium”, added that there is the need to introduce political debates and forums in the villages, in order to get to know the reality of the needs of such communities.

“People who encourage violence, should prepare for violence,” he added.
