Catholic Priest dies in road crash

Rev. Fr Mathias Nwea Ackah, a Catholic Priest from Nawulley and stationed at Danso near Tarkwa, died shortly on arrival at the Half Assini Government Hospital after a road crash.

Rev. Ackah was driving a Hyundai on the night of Sunday, August 12 and on arriving at the sharp curve of Nyame Kwame near Tikobo Number One, the accident occurred.

Superintendent John Ferguson Dzineku, Jomoro District Police Commander, said the deceased was suspected to be on top speed and skidded off the road leading to the several somersaults of the car.

He said the deceased, who was said to have organised a birthday party for his parents earlier in the day at Nawulley and was returning home, was rushed to the Half Assini Government Hospital but died shortly on arrival.

This is the second fatal accident that has occurred in the year around the same spot, in the first instance a GHACEM haulage truck ran over a taxi killing all its occupants.**
