Catholic Orgainization Commends Gov’t, Church On Environmental Policies

Accra, (Greater Accra) 13 Sept., The National Management Council of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) has commended the government and the Church for their collaboration to stem environmental degradation. It said since the required awareness is yet to be achieved, government should intensify its educational campaign on the causes of environment degradation. These are contained in a resolution passed at its 35th National Council meeting and released to the Ghana News Agency in Accra today. The Council called on the government to regulate the operations of mining companies since their activities are causing a lot of damage to the environment. Traditional authorities should assist by enforcing legislations on the protection of the environment. the resolution said.
