Catholic Church fetes widows and widowers

Kumasi, March 3, GNA- The Saint Paul’s Catholic church at Amakom in Kumasi on Sunday feted widows and widowers of the church as part of its social responsibilities to the congregation.

The widows and widowers were taken on an excursion to the Manhyia Museum, where they learnt more about Ashanti history and culture and the Airport.

Speaking at the reception, Reverend Father Philip Opoku Nyame, Parish Priest of the church, said the occasion was to remind the widows and widowers that they had not been forgotten and that they were still part of the congregation.

Rev Father Nyame said the church did not only believe in service to God but to mankind as well.

Mr Kofi Boama, President of the church, said about 200 of them had been organised and the church periodically assisted them. He disclosed that the church spent about 16.6 million cedis on the sick and needy as their Christmas package last year and gave the assurance that it would continue to assist them.
