Asankangwa (W/R), Nov. 28, GNA – Reverend Father Ignatius Miah-Hogyah, Deputy Western Regional Manager of Catholic Schools, at the weekend said the Catholic Church does not indoctrinate children at its schools.
He was speaking at a meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Catholic Junior Secondary School at Asankrangwaa. Rev Miah-Hogyah urged parents and guardians to discard the idea that children are forced to accept Catholic doctrines at schools. He said the Church teaches children to fear God and supports the development programmes of the government. Reverend Miah-Hogyah asked the PTA to complement the government’s efforts by initiating projects to improve teaching and learning at the school.
Mr Francis Boadu, headmaster of the school, advised parents to educate their children to be disciplined and to support their education. They should also visit the school regularly to assess the performance of their children, he said. Nana Adjen, the PTA chairman, called for cooperation between teachers and parents to promote teaching and learning.
