Obuasi, Jan. 21, GNA – The Most Reverend Thomas Mensah, Catholic Bishop of Obuasi, has ordained two deacons of the church with a call on Ghanaians to be truthful in all they do.
He pointed out that truth and peace were the key ingredients for the development and progress of every society.
The Deacons were the Reverend Thomas Okyere and Reverend Francis Sarpong.
Bishop Mensah regretted that Ghanaians including those in positions of trust to the ordinary ones take delight in telling lies and giving false testimonies instead of being truthful.
While some politicians tell lies to sway the votes of the people or get them to their sides, some religious leaders preach about wealth instead of proclaiming the truth to their members, he charged. Bishop Mensah attributed the political instability and religious conflicts in Africa to the unwillingness of the leaders to listen to the voices of people who tell them the truth.
God, he said, has planted truthfulness and peace in the hearts of men and as such it was their responsibility to live with these attributes explaining that the only way for a country or society to live in peace was to listen to the voice of God and abide by it. Bishop Mensah advised the newly ordained deacons to fight for the truth in whatever they do.
