Catering students graduate

Winneba (C/R), March 24, GNA – The Assemblyman for Awutu Beraku, Mr Moses Ahenful-Acquah has called on parents and guardians to send their wards who dropped out of school to vocational institutions to acquire skills that could make them financially sound.

Mr. Ahenful-Acquah made the call at the graduation ceremony of 35 students who have undergone an 18-month training in catering, batik tie and dye at Kasoa on Saturday.

He said, “every child has his or her God given talent”, adding, “if a child is not academically good it does not means he or she is useless.”

The Assemblyman appealed to parents to use the money they spend on expensive funerals and unnecessary litigations to cater for their children to acquire skills at the vocational institutions. The proprietres of the institute, Mrs Middled Kassar appealed for assistance from non-governmental organisations to expand facilities for more admission.

On behalf of the graduands, Miss Fustina Andah urged girls to shun interest in gifts from men since such gifts could lead them into situations which could undermine their vocation. She urged parents to try as much as possible to provide the basic needs of their children so that they would not be tempted by such items. Miss Andah advised girls who has attained the age of 18 to register in the on-going registration exercise.
