Kumasi, June 21, GNA- The Youth have been called upon not to perceive catering as the preserve for women but a career for men as well.
Nana Darko Bosompem, the Director of Marcus School of Practical Catering in Kumasi who made the call asked the nation’s training institutions to become interested in equipping the youth with employable skills to give practical meaning to the “Golden Age of Business”. He was speaking at the sixth graduation ceremony of the school on Saturday at which 15 students passed out after undergoing six months training in catering were awarded certificates.
Nana Bosompem said: “People in the catering industry should improve upon the quality of our traditional eating establishments to give foreign visitors the confidence to patronise our local cuisine” He said as tourism constituted a vital force in the Ghanaian economy, there was the need for the repackaging of our local dishes to meet international standards.
Nana Bosompem admonished those who passed out not to abandon the vocation they had chosen but take keen interest in it and operate their own restaurants.
