Caterers asked to prepare food under good hygienic conditions

Mr. Godfred Axolu, Nkoranza Municipal Director of Education, has urged caterers of the School Feeding Programme, to prepare their meals under good hygienic conditions.

He stressed the need for them to guard against any contamination that could cause food poisoning.

Mr Axolu was addressing head teachers, matrons, caterers and other stakeholders of the School Feeding within the Nkoranza Municipality at a meeting at Nkoranza.

He condemned the attitude some matrons who failed to supervise the work of caterers of the programme.

Mr Axolu reminded the matrons that they would be held responsible for any mishaps, and urged them to pay regular visits to the schools, to ensure that caterers provided the required balanced diet for the school children.

He called for an effective collaboration between matrons and head-teachers, to facilitate the submission of accurate reports on the programme.

Mr. Benjamin Nyame, Nkoranza Municipal Assembly Desk Officer in-charge of the school feeding programme, advised the matrons to prepare charts on the menu of their schools and submit copies to the Municipal Education Office.

He urged School Management Committees (SMCs) to liaise with the Unit Committees to provide structures to serve as kitchen for the Caterers.

Miss Esther Owusu Baffoe, Matron in-charge of Nkwabeng Presbyterian Schools, commended the Municipal Education Director for organizing the meeting.

The matrons at a forum, however, called urged government to review the feeding fee of 50pesewas.
