Cashew brandy launched at Mim

Mim (B/A), May 17, GNA – Alhaji Kwadwo Maama Adam, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, has asked industrialists to take advantage of thegovernment’s programme at encouraging private participation in the national economy to step up production and add value to their products.

He said the government would continue to provide the required infrastructural facilities such as good roads, water and electricity to boost their efforts. Alhaji Adam said this at the launch of a new alcoholic beverage, cashew brandy, produced by the Mim Agro and Industrial Project at Mim in the Asunafo District.

He said the government places a high premium on the operations of private business concerns, which have the potential to generate employment and improve the country’s foreign exchange earning capacity. He commended the management of the Mim Company for its foresight and called on investors to take advantage of the vast opportunities in the region to establish more industries.

Nana Opoku Acheampong, Personnel and Public Relations Manager of the company, told the Ghana News Agency that the cashew used for the production of the brandy is produced from its 600-acre plantation.

He said the company produces about 30,000 bottles of brandy a month, adding that this will soon be increased to satisfy local demand and for export. Nana Ama Nima, Benkumhemaa of the Mim Traditional Area, cut the tape to launch the product.
