Carver fined for stealing

The Akim Swedru Circuit Court in the Birim South District, has imposed a fine of GHc 6,800 on an Akim Anamase based wood carver for causing damage and stealing.

Kwadwo Senteng will go to prison for 30 months, if he fails to pay the fine.

Senteng broke into Mr Benjamin Prah’s room and stole his items valued at
GH 6,200.

He pleaded guilty to causing damage, unlawful entry and stealing.

The prosecution told the trial judge, Mr Emmanuel Brew, that the complainant is a staff of the Akwatia Saint Dominic Hospital, and returned home from work to detect that his doors had been damaged and some items stolen from his room.

The prosecution listed the damaged items as, four security locks, two wooden doors, a pad lock, two cylinder locks, two burglar proof windows and a kitchen door.

The stolen items were three mattresses, three beds and 19 roofing sheets.

The prosecution said Mr Prah made a report to the Akim Manso Police, who arrested Senteng, leading to the retrieval of the items.
