Carpenter sentenced for stealing two pigs

Aflao, Sept. 13, GNA – The Circuit Court at Aflao, on Monday imposed a 600,000 cedis fine, on a 27-year-old carpenter, or in default six months imprisonment, for stealing two pigs. Ernest Abuya was sentenced on his plea. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Abraham Narh Tetteh told the Court presided over by Mr Godwin Kwasi-Kumah, that the accused, persuaded one Dogbeda at Kpoglo near Denu, to help him carry a blood-soaked sacks on a bicycle.

Mr Dogbeda became suspicious and reported Abuya to members of a Unit Committee at Sokpokope, who effected his arrest. Inspector Tetteh said when the sack was inspected the carcasses were discovered and Abuya was subsequently handed over to the police at Amedzikope. He said in the course of police investigations, one Horlanor, a pig farmer at Denu reported of her two missing pigs.
