Carpenter jailed for defiling customer’s daughter

Aflao, Oct. 18, GNA – Kwadjo Agbeve, 22, a carpenter based at Agbozome in the volt Region was on Friday, jailed 12 years by a circuit court at Aflao for taking advantage of and defiling a customer’s daughter, 12 years old.

Agbeve, married with a child, pleaded guilty, but blamed his conduct on the devil’s influence, sending the courtroom into both laughter and booing.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Kofi Frimpong told the court presided over by Group Captain Martin Obeng-Ntim, that at 1600 hours on October 4, this year, the victim was sent by her mother to collect a repaired wooden tray from the accused at his workshop, located at the outskirts of Sokladzi, a suburb of Agzozume. He said the accused lured the victim, a basic school pupil, into his room and forcibly had sex with her, as he raised the volume on his radio set, making the victim’s distress calls overshadowed. The Prosecution said as the victim delayed in returning home, her mother followed up, only to hear her cries in Agbeve’s room. The matter was reported to the police and Agbeve was arrested and later charged.
