Carpenter jailed 25 years for defiling a four-year-old girl

Tarkwa (W/R) March 9, GNA- A circuit court in Tarkwa on Thursday sentenced Benjamin Ambrose, a 19-year-old carpenter, to 25 years imprisonment in hard labour for defiling a four-and-half-year-old girl. Ambrose pleaded guilty and prayed the court to deal with him leniently.

Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr John Ajet Nasam that Ambrose lured the girl into his carpentry shop and defiled her.

The prosecutor said when the victim went home, her mother and the complainant, noticed that her daughter was defiled and asked her who was responsible for the act.

Insp. Amponsah said the victim led the mother to the shop and the suspect on seeing them attempted to run but the complainant raised the alarm, which attracted a crowd that arrested Ambrose and handed him over to the Police at Prestea.

Sentencing Ambrose, the Judge said Ambrose’s action was beastly and he did not deserve to live among right thinking people. Mr Nasam said if he had had his own way he would have given Ambrose a much stiffer punishment than the maximum 25 years that the law stipulated for people who defiled children.
