Carpenter in court for allegedly stealing a rifle

Accra, Sept. 5, GNA – A Circuit Court in Accra on Monday remanded a 50-year-old carpenter into prison custody for selling an AK 47 assault rifle belonging to the Ghana Police Service.

Kwadwo Osei whose plea was not taken has been charged with stealing and possessing firearm without lawful authority. Osei is to reappear on September 12.

The case as presented by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Y. Amegah was that Osei offered an AK 47 assault rifle number Z54530 for sale to an informant at 40 million cedis. The informant presented the rifle to the Police who in turn arrested Osei.
