Caritas presents office equipment to Catholic Education Unit

Koforidua, June 27, GNA – Caritas St Polten in Austria, a Catholic charity organization, has donated various office equipment including computers and furniture worth about 151 million cedis to the Eastern Regional Office of the Catholic Educational Unit at Koforidua. Other items included two air conditioners, a photo copier, two electric typewriters and a binding machine.

Presenting the items on behalf of the donors at a ceremony, the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Koforidua, Very Rev. Father Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum, stated that the donation formed the first phase of a three-phase project agreement between the Unit and the donors. According to him, the others include the training of 55 teacher trainers as resource persons for the 15 districts in the diocese and the organization of in-service training programmes for 1,000 teachers of the Unit at a total cost of 60,593 US dollars.

Fr Afrifah-Agyekum, who is also the Board Chairman of the Unit, stressed the need for the equipment to be well-maintained and used with care to ensure their long lifespan and help improve education delivery in the diocese.

Receiving the items, the Eastern Regional Manager of the Unit, Mr John Bosco Naeroh, commended the donors for the gesture and promised that they would be put to good use to enhance the Unit’s administrative duties.

The Dean of the Nkawkaw Deanery of the Catholic Church, Very Rev. Fr Paul Lawer Kojo, dedicated the equipment.
