Careless driving kills two.

Tema, Feb. 17, GNA – A driver whose carelessness caused an accident that led to the death of two persons has been granted 50 million cedis bail by the Tema Circuit Court “B”.

Edward Awusu pleaded not guilty and will reappear on February 20, 2004. The prosecution told the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on August 15, 2002, the accused was driving LT Benz bus with registration number GR 2393H with 19 passengers from Ashaiman to Tema Fishing Harbour.

The prosecution said the driver emerged from a minor road in Community Nine into the main road without observing traffic on the main road. He drove into the inner lane and was knocked by KTS bus that was coming from the motorway roundabout.

The LT bus somersaulted and left two people dead and six others seriously injured, including the driver.
