Careless driver granted bail in the sum of 20 million cedis

Tema, June 29, GNA – The Tema Circuit Court ‘B’ has granted bail in the sum of 20 million cedis to Peter Donkor Hanson, who appeared before it charged with careless driving.

Hanson pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on July 9, 2004. Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi told the Court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye, that on February 11, 2004 at about 1915 hours, Hanson, who was driving a Mercedes Benz sedan bearing registration number ER 3115 U along the Tema Municipal Assembly road, stopped by the shoulders of the road opposite the Community Centre and alighted a passenger.

She said while driving off after alighting the passenger, Hanson entered the main road without observing traffic from behind, and in the process ran into a Toyota taxicab being driven by one Yaw Nkansah. The Court heard that the taxi was damaged but no one was injured.
