CAREER FAIR IN KUMASI

The first ever Career Fair in the country organised by the Centre for Community Empowerment, (CEFORCE) a Kumasi based NGO has taken place in Kumasi. The fair had the theme, “The youth and appropriate vocation towards Vision 2020. It is to afford the youth and unemployed the opportunity to identify possible areas of interest and expose them to new areas in career development. Exhibitors at the fair were the various departments of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, the Police Service, CEPS, Nurses Training Schools, Ghana Shippers Council, Association of Small Scale Carpenters and the Kumasi Technical Institute. Speaking at the fair the Ashanti Regional Director of Community Development, Mr., Frimpong Asubonteng, said human resource development and capacity building in vocational training are indispensable to the realisation of Vision 2020. There is, therefore, the need for the youth to be guided into appropriate vocations for the advancement of nation’s economy. The Pro-Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Professor A.K. Tuah, expressed the hope that the youth will through the Career Fair make responsible decisions in career development in order to contribute their quota in the achievement of Vision 2020. The Director of CEFORCE, Rev. Dr.. Kojo Osei-Wusu, called for sponsorship from public and private institutions to make the Fair a regular affair. End
