Cardio machines break down…3 patients sent home

Three patients to be operated on at the Cardiothoracic Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra have been sent home because the surgical machine has broken down for the past two weeks.

The Blood Gas Andyzer machine, very vital for ventilation and monitoring of the heart and blood, broke down after being used for five years. This was disclosed yesterday by the director of the Unit, Dr Frimpong Boateng when the Lebanese Community in accra presented a cheque for 2 million cedis to the unit as the members’ contribution towards its upkeep.
