Cardinal Turkson urges Ghanaians to renew minds

Cape Coast, March 4, GNA- The Catholic Archbishop of Cape Coast, His Eminence Peter Cardinal Kodwo Appiah Turkson on Sunday urged Ghanaians to renew their minds this Jubilee year and endeavour to forgive one another, eschew greed and cheating and seek the welfare of their fellow citizens.

He said the celebration of the 50th Jubilee celebration was Biblical and requires that Christians particularly and Ghanaians as a whole should have a change of heart towards each other for the betterment of the country.

Cardinal Turkson was delivering the sermon at an inter-denominational thanksgiving service to mark the Golden Jubilee anniversary celebration in the region, organized jointly by the Central Regional Ghana @50 planning committee and CENTRAPEC, an association of Pentecostal and charismatic churches in the region. He, in that direction, charged all Ghanaians to cancel the debts of their debtors as has been stated in Leviticus 28:8-28 and stressed that life is more important than material things and also turn to God and serve Him.

The Central Regional minister, Nana Ato Arthur, also appealed to citizens to take the opportunity to unite and eschew any negative tendencies that would be inimical to the development of the region. He said no Ghanaian should exempt himself from the celebrations but join in as 93we work harder to develop our country”, adding that the region in particular needed to revive all the defunct industries to help create wealth.

Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Paramount chief of Oguaa traditional area urged people of Cape Coast to take good care of the renovated Victoria Park and also asked the RCC to ensure that it was well maintained.

Later a team of Bishops and heads of churches dedicated the facility which was constructed by Sammy Ray constructions limited at the cost of four billion cedis, to God, while prayers were said for the President, ministers of state, MPs and the nation at large. The renovation work was completed within six weeks and the Victoria Park now has facilities, including presidential dais, press gallery and dressing rooms.
