Cardinal Turkson urges Christians to help facilitate development

Cape Coast Aug. 16, GNA- His Eminence, Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson, Archbishop of Cape Coast Diocese of Catholic Church, on Sunday urged Christians and politicians, to focus on policies which could be easily achieved.

He said time had come for people in position of trust to set targets and be committed to them, to enhance socio-economic development in the country.

Cardinal Turkson was speaking at the opening of a weeklong ‘International revival conference’, organised by the Cape Coast branch of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), at Cape Coast. The conference aimed at offering prayers to enable the Central Region to move forward in terms of development. It had the theme: “taking note of the future”, and more than 400 members of the church including United Kingdom and United States branches, are attending the conference.

The Cardinal said he was saddened by the fact that despite the campaign against lawlessness and indiscipline, some Christians, preach virtue and practice vice, adding, “there would be sanity in the country, if people begin to set meaning goals and remained focused”.

“We need God’s power to break the bondage of sin in the society”, he said.

Cardinal Turkson said: “God created man in His own image to belong to him and serve him in holiness and righteousness, all the days of his life”.

He said the future of a Christian was to belong to God all the days of his life and remain committed in worshiping him to achieve his vision in life.

Prayers were said for the region and the nation.
