Car Snatcher arrested at Assin Mankrong

A 30-year-old unemployed man who attempted to sell two vehicles suspected to have been stolen was on Tuesday arrested by the Twifo Praso Police Command at Assin Mankrong in the Central Region.

The suspect, Nii Nai was found in the possession of two Hyundai Grace Mini Buses with registration numbers GW 7882W and GS3515-10.

General Sergeant Raymond Asaaba of the Police Public Affairs Unit of the Central Regional Police Command, who made this known to the GNA on Thursday, said the Twifo Praso Police Command received information that the suspect had offered the vehicles for sale.

He said due to reports of criminals stealing cars from one region and selling them in another, the police command went to the location and arrested the suspect.

He said the suspect upon interrogation admitted stealing the cars from their respective owners at Nima and Maamobi in the Greater Accra Region.

Sgt. Asaaba said the suspect was arraigned before court for stealing two cars in May last year but due to insufficient evidence he was acquitted.

He said the vehicles have been impounded at the Regional Headquarters while investigations are on-going.
