Car runs over Fire Service personnel while rescuing accident victims

At least three personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service are feared dead, after a speeding car ran over them on the George Walker Bush Highway (N1) Saturday evening at an accident scene.

Unconfirmed report also suggests that some of the persons involved in the accident also lost their lives.

The fire personnel had gone to the accident scene to help rescue victims trapped in mangled cars around 6:30pm.

According an eyewitness, one car smashed the other from behind causing both car to screeched to a halt.

Before they could jump out of their cars to settle whose fault it was, due to the nature of the road, other cars rammed into the parked cars.

In all about five cars were involved.

They were all moving from Lapaz heading towards Achimota/Tetteh Quarshie Roundabout when the unfortunate incident happened few meters from the Sues Inn.

Police personnel later moved to the scene with the assistance of residents to rescue passengers trapped in their cars and rush the injured to hospital.
