Car crash kills 8, injures 11 in Western Region

At least eight people are feared dead and 11 others injured in a ghastly accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon at Ewusiejoe near Agona Nkwanta in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region at about 3pm.

The accident, according to Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson of local radio station Skyy Power FM, involved a Stanbic Bank branded mini bus, that was travelling from Takoradi and another Takoradi-bound mini bus.

Eye witnesses said the bus, which was carrying mourners from a funereal in Takoradi, rolled over several times and rammed into the other mini bus parked on the ears of the road after an overtaking manouvre that went bad.

Some passengers in the other bus who survived sustained severe injuries.

The bodies of the dead have been taken to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.

Police have launched an investigation into the accident.
