Car Catches Fire at University of Ghana Campus

A vehicle caught fire late Friday night on the University of Ghana campus, prompting a rapid response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

According to the Legon Fire Station, officers received a distress call at 10:17 p.m. on July 25 and immediately dispatched a fire tender to the scene.

In a statement issued on Monday, July 28, 2025, the GNFS confirmed that the fire was already raging when the crew arrived. Firefighters discovered the car completely engulfed, with the engine compartment and interior consumed by flames.

“The crew responded with precision and urgency,” the GNFS said, adding that the blaze was contained within four minutes. Their swift intervention prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties or threatening the safety of pedestrians.

No casualties were recorded, though the vehicle was extensively damaged. Authorities say investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
