Captain Agbeyome withdraws from NDC parliamentary candidacy race

Ho, Jun 6, GNA – Captain Philip Kwame Agbeyome, has withdrawn from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidacy race in the South-Tongu Constituency, leaving Mr Ken Dzirasah, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, unopposed.

Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Volta Regional Secretary of the Party, who made this known to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday, said Capt Agbeyome cited personal reasons for opting out of the race that would have preceded the primaries.

He said Capt Agbeyome was unable to attend a vetting session at Sogakope, the constituency headquarters, on May 25, this year, as a result of his involvement in a lorry accident while travelling from Accra to Sogakope on that day.

Mr Ganyaglo said, Capt Agbeyome was later given a week to avail himself of the opportunity to be vetted at the NDC Regional Office in Ho but sent a letter to Office indicating his withdrawal, before the expiry date.
