The Chiefs of Oguaa Traditional Area have described the sudden death of former President John Evans Atta Mills as a great loss to Cape Coast and the whole nation. Speaking at a press conference in Cape Coast to express their condolence to the family, the wife, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the nation, the Acting President of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Nana Afari Twako VI said President Mills’ death represented great loss of asset to the people of Cape Coast and the entire nation.
They also requested for God’s guidance for President John Dramani Mahama to continue the good work of President Mills, adding that the chiefs would visit Osu Castle, President Mills’ family at Nkanfoa and former first lady, Mrs. Ernestina Naadu Mills in Accra.
The chiefs, clad in red and black clothes, said they are planning to honour President Mills during the upcoming Fetu Afahye for his dedication and participation during every Fetu Afahye celebration.
The press conference, which was held at the Obama Hall in Emintimadze Palace in Cape Coast, portrayed the grief that engulfed the chiefs.
Some of the chiefs could not hold up their tears as it flowed, signifying how bitter they were about the death of the great son of the area.
The Chronicle observed that residents in Cape Coast and the whole Central Region are still mourning the death of President Mills, whose sudden death occurred on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.
Taxi drivers and other commercial cars still had red bands displayed on their cars, while others also had the portrait of the late law Professor pasted on their cars.
A minute silence was observed by the chiefs for the late President.
