At Cape Coast, a parade of 160 security men drawn from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNES) Ghana Prison Service (GPS) Police Service, Army from the 64 Infantry Regiment in Burma Camp, Cadets from Adisadel College and retired soldiers was held at the forecourt of the Cape Coast castle to mark the 62nd Remembrance Day service. The commanding officer was Captain George Nana Yaw Oduro from the 64 infantry regiment whiles the Anglican Boys Brigade band provided music. At exactly 1100 hours there was a siren, ringing of church bells, amidst the sounding of last post and Mr King Solomon Aubin, Central Regional Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG) read the “Binyon”.
The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur, laid a wreath at the cenotaph, on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana; Mrs Rose Bio-Atinga, Regional Police Commander laid one on behalf of security services; Nana Kwame Edu Tufuhen of Oguaa Traditional Council, for the chiefs and people of Oguaa traditional area and Mr King Solomon Aubin Regional VAG Chairman laid one on behalf of Veterans. Two minutes silence was also observed for the departed souls, after which Flags were hoisted at full mast. Reverend Fr. Ato Koomson of the Anglican Church gave the Benediction to end the service.
The contingent later marched through the streets of Cape Coast.
