Candidates gear for elections in Ho Municipality

Ho, Aug 8, GNA – A total of 104 candidates, including 22 women, are contesting the local government elections in the Ho Municipal Area. Teachers numbering 38 constitute about 36 per cent of the candidates.

Statistics provided by the district office of the electoral Commission to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Ho on Monday indicated that eight candidates at the Ho-Central, Ho-Hliha, Ho-Dome, Ho-Blisam Duga, Loboli, Klave-Hoe, Hlefi and Kpale-Etodone are unopposed. Some of the high profile personalities in the race are Alex Dza Kumah a Manager at the Ghana Telecom in Ho who is contesting the Tsito-Awudome seat with Mr. Victor Gameli Asem, a teacher. Mr George Hornuvo, the Acting Volta Regional Director of the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) is also contesting Dodome Electoral Area seat with two others. Yao Semordey, Ho District Youth coordinator, is standing unopposed for the Ho-Central Assembly Area.

Toviadzi and Bake-Gblefe Electoral areas, both in Ho have the highest number of five contestants each. Ms. Lawrence Kpatakpa, Volta Regional Director of the EC told the duly completed but without photographs.
