Canadian Governor-General Departs

Accra, Dec.1, GNA – The Governor-General of Canada, Ms Michaelle Jean left Accra Friday morning for Johannesburg, South Africa after a five-day state visit to Ghana.

Before her departure at the airport, Governor-General Jean took the national salute and inspected a guard of honour mounted by 106 men and three officers drawn from the Southern Command under the command of Major Kofi Archur, with the Army Band in attendance.

She was also given a 21 gun salute.

At the airport to see her off were President John Agyekum Kufour; Donald Bobiash, Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana; Lt. General J.B. Danquah, the Chief of Defence Staff; Mrs Elizabeth Robinson, Deputy Inspector General of Police; Officials of the Canadian Embassy in Ghana and Members of the Diplomatic Corps.
