Canadian education fair opens

Accra, Jan. 6, GNA – Dr Angela Ofori-Atta, Former Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Manpower, Youth and Employment, on Tuesday opened this year’s Canadian Education Fair in Accra with a call on students to explore educational opportunities in Canada.

She said Canadian education was fashioned to produce world class materials suitable for any environment on the globe.

Dr Ofori-Atah, who also had her university education in Canada, said after she completed school in Canada, she was sure to fit into any working environment anywhere.

She said Canadian universities as compared to others in other Western societies was one of the best and inculcated a sense of discipline and self-consciousness needed to make students whole. Ms Pearl Williams, Commercial Counsellor, Canadian High Commission, said the rationale behind the fair was to introduce Canadian education prospects to Ghanaians, who intended to study abroad. She noted that once the prospective students met the requisite requirements, they would be offered admission either at undergraduate or postgraduate levels.

Ms Williams said that scholarship opportunities were available to international students adding scholarship was granted per application, individual’s performance and need.

Representatives from selected universities and colleges in Canada are at the fair to showcase their products to prospective students. They are ready to offer conditional admission to students who meet their requirements.
