Calm returns to Hohoe after Alavanyo-Nkonya clashes

Relative calm has returned to the Hohoe district of the Volta region after fresh clashes erupted between residents of Alavanyo and their neighbours the Nkonyas.

One person has so far been confirmed dead in the conflict.

The two groups are age-old rivals.

There were similar clashes over a month ago which led to the killing of 52-year old Anthony Akoto who was shot dead and 48-year old Michael Sarpong who was beheaded.

A combined Police and military team have been dispatched to the area to maintain peace.

Speaking to XYZ News, Volta regional Police PRO Chief Inspector Joy Afagbaji said the security team on the ground has a firm control of affairs.
