CAGD apologises for delay in payment of salaries

Accra, July 3, GNA – The Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD) on Thursday apologised for the delay in the payment of salaries to public servants, especially teachers.

A statement issued by the CAGD said, “due to the delayed request by the Personnel Processing Section of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to the CAGD not to effect payment with the old salary levels until the new salary levels were factored into the June salary, bank reports delayed in getting to the Bank of Ghana”. It said this therefore affected the prompt payment of salaries. 3 July 08
