Cabinet on retreat at Akosombo

Cabinet yesterday began a two-day residential retreat at Akosombo to discuss national issues, including the proposed education reforms intended to be introduced by the government to promote quality education.

The retreat, being held behind closed-doors, is being attended by President Kufuor and key ministers of state.

Last month, the President announced that the government was considering the introduction of key reforms in the education system, including a four-year programme to replace the current three-year Senior Secondary School programme.

He explained that the government?s intended action was to be based on the recommendation of a committee which was set up two years ago to review the country?s education system.
