C70BN to upgrade selected senior secondary schools

Accra, April 28, GNA – The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has in the first quarter released more than 70 billion cedis for the upgrading of selected senior secondary schools.

The Ministry has also released 28 billion cedis as subsidy for the conduct of the Basic Education Certificate Examination as well as 45 billion as government subsidy to senior secondary schools.

A statement by the Public Relations Unit of the Ministry said the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) released 241 million cedis and 305 million cedis into the District Assemblies’ Common Fund. An amount of 30.2 billion cedis was also released for the payment of Additional Duty Hours Allowance (ADHA) for medical personnel for August to December 2005.

It said the Government no longer owed any arrears for ADHA as by agreement reached with health personnel as the new salary agreement began from January 2006.
